Illinois DOT Wants Your Input by March 8

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is seeking additional input from the public to help develop its Long Range Transportation plan.

“We want our Long Range Transportation Plan to drive how we operate as an agency and how we are making investment decisions,” says Illinois Transportation Secretary Randy Blankenhorn. “By working together with members of the public and our industry partners, we are confident we can develop a solid vision for how we are going to invest in transportation in Illinois over the next 10 to 20 years.”

IDOT reports it received more than 700 survey responses last year during the initial comment period for the plan, with more than 25 percent indicating safety was their top priority. Those responding also reported maintaining the state’s infrastructure is “critical to improving the state’s economy and that a need exists for a multimodal transportation system.”

The agency is asking for feedback and comments by March 8 submitted at AllOurIdeas.org/IDOTideas. More details on the plan, and how it is developed, is available here. Blankenhorn provides some detail in the video below.
