NMA Position on Tolls

The NMA supports the concept of a transportation system being supported by user fees, as well as taxes related to properties, residences, and businesses being served by this system.

However, the NMA does not support the use of excessive user fees (e.g. congestion fees) to ration or discourage access to public roadways. Nor does the NMA support the establishment of new toll roads, the conversion of freeways to toll roads, or the partial tolling of existing highway corridors.
