About The NMA Foundation

The National Motorists Association Foundation (NMAF) was established in 1999. The NMAF is a tax-exempt organization working to improve conditions for North American motorists. The Foundation promotes fresh approaches to highway and traffic problems based on reason and sound engineering principles, not the "command and control" tactics supported by governments and the insurance industry.

Through a multi-faceted approach of research, education, and litigation, the NMAF is seeking ways to protect your interests as a motorist and citizen. The foundation is forward thinking and plans to use its growing endowment to fund comprehensive research studies free from the control of government agencies or private industries with vested interests in their outcomes. Current foundation research priorities include addressing traffic congestion, highway and road design, individual mobility for those unable to drive, and the environmental impact of vehicles.

Educational programs are essential to the NMAF's mission and goals. We are the #1 resource for educational materials relating to fighting unjust traffic tickets and we are rapidly becoming a leading voice in national dialogues on important issues such as lane courtesy. Improved driver training is another of our top priorities.

The foundation has also been involved in legal challenges that affect the rights or safety of all drivers. We will build upon our past endeavors by funding precedent-setting litigation on important motorist issues. The NMAF will continue to fight for rational regulation and against unfair or unreasonable traffic laws.

The foundation's 2006 financial report is available to the public here.
