What was the specific violation he cited you for? If you are a NMA member I would start exploring the resources available here and start building your defense for court. You didn't plead guilty right? Your first step is to plead not guilty and get your court date set. Then start building your defense. Not trying to be mean here but try to be more attentive to detail than you were in your post above. All your typos make you difficult to understand. If it means enough to you, take the time to do it right.

Good luck to you.

I shouldent have been given a ticket for 2 reasons he was in the wrong town and its not my fault someone was hanging on the rear of my car and almost hit me cause i stop to avoid an animal thanks

Is it possible that this officer from town B has jurisdiction in town A? Sometimes police are given jurisdiction in a neighboring town so first you would need to look into that but you shouldn't assume that will get you out of the ticket.

I agree that almost anytime a rear-ending occurs, the person in back is found guilty because they should be following at enough distance to allow them to stop should the person in front of them have to brake for any reason.

Problem is, it's going to be your word against the cop in court but look to the NMA to help you out. Start by pleading not guilty and request a copy of the back of his citation to see what he said about the incident.

Spent 2 and a half hours at the DMV, to register a truck, Driving that night and I get pulled over in a one horse town called Yucca Valley, in California. Cop says "do you know why I stopped you?" Um, no I wasn't speeding. "Well your tags came back to me as expired", Well I say, I just spent 2.5 hours at the DMV, and so I get out to see if the sticker is missing, it's there. SO I tell the cop are you going to accuse me of stealing the tag next? Since I have a brand new tag on the truck, "Well um NO, but look here on my computer, IT says that it's expired", WELL low and behold the butthead hit a button and updated his computer and there was the current registration!!! I ALWAYS say if you are going to do something make sure you know that you are right and you did it well. SO that you don't look like a jackass when you open your mouth!

I know in Phoenix, All of Glendale, Peoria, Scottsdale, Mesa, Goodyear, Sun City, Tempe have shared jurisdiction. You can basically get a ticket from a cop from any of those cities, in any of those cities...

I would plead not guilty to the ticket and try to explain that you were trying to avoid an animal. As long as you didn't change lanes to avoid it you should be ok. Unless, they have previously determined that an animal of insufficient size(like a squirrel) to pose a threat to the vehicle is not sufficient reason to initiate any emergency maneuvers(swerving or slamming on the breaks). If the state or city has any previous rulings on the size of an animal to pose a threat then you can loose the case.

I got out of it i had to hire a lawyer only way the police can follow me into the next town is if i did somthing wrong in there town they can presue me into the next but even with that there supose to raido the local police to meet them there. the cops go over this bridge all the time trying to give ticketes and then turn around and go back to there town trying to get another luck for me i took the photos of the skid marks i made when i slamed the breaks to avoid an animal and it was not it there town..... now ill be staying away from that town for a bit im sure the police man liked having his head served to him on a platter in court :-)
