The Anti-Drunk Driving Campaign: A Covert War Against Drinking

By Charles V. Pena

Charles V. Pena is the former executive director of the MADD Northern Virginia Chapter and the former executive director of the American Council on Alcoholism. He is currently a policy studies director at the Cato Institute, www.cato.org, a public policy think tank in Washington, DC.

MADD's original mission of getting truly drunk drivers off the road has been lost. Although MADD officially denies it is seeking the prohibition of moderate drinking when dining out, it remains unofficially committed to the prohibition of alcohol.
