Michigan: Repeal Driver Responsibility Fees - SB638
Senate Bill 638 would repeal Michigan's very punitive Driver Responsibility Law as of October 2007. This is the law that adds hundreds or thousands of dollars to ticket fines over three years and improperly suspends the drivers license of those that do not or cannot pay.
Michigan: 85th Percentile Exemption - SB117
Senate Bill 117 would exempt Oakland County from the state’s policy of setting speed limits at the 85th percentile. This would make it easier for speed limits in Oakland County to be lowered for the purposes of generating more ticket revenue. In addition, if Oakland County is exempted, other counties will no doubt ask to be exempt as well.
